Fay Joann Wiethorn, 68, Monona, died Friday, June 21, 2013, at her home in Monona, following a long, courageous battle with ovarian cancer.
Faye Joann, the daughter of Haldon and Marie (Eberhardt) Reimer, was born on the Reimer family farm in rural Clayton County. She was baptized and confirmed at Peace United Church in Elkader. Faye was a 1963 graduate of Garnavillo High School and a 1967 graduate of Mercy School of Nursing in Dubuque. Faye was united in marriage with Bill Ray Wiethorn on Jan. 21, 1966, at Peace United Church in Elkader. To this union seven children were born and raised in Monona. Later the family lived and worked the Wiethorn family farm just outside of Monona. Bill preceded her in death in 2003.
Faye worked at the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital from 1967 until her retirement in 2011. During these 44 years, Faye held positions as a nursing supervisor, utilization review manager, and Walter Schmidt Independent Living Facility manager.
Faye is survived by six children, Richard (Maureen) Wiethorn of Maple Grove, Minn., Carmen (Mike) Folluo of Hamilton, Ill., Paula (Lonnie) Thornton of Cheyenne, Wyo., Amy (Mike) Shepherd of Arvada, Colo., Daniel (Amy) Wiethorn of Monona, and Michael (Deb) Wiethorn of Solon; 14 grandchildren, Zachary, Brandon, and Megan Wiethorn, Allison and Carley Folluo, Kelby, Jacob and Cole Thornton, Max and Jack Shepherd, Chloe and Maddox Wiethorn, and Sadie and Dillon Wiethorn; three sisters, Susie (Jim) Dinan of Edgewood, Linda (Chris) Schoulte of Farmersburg, and Donna (Dan) Miller of Monona, and three brothers, Ronnie (Mary) Reimer of Garnavillo, Ken (Alice) Reimer of Elkader, and Doug (Kathy) Reimer of Guttenberg.
