First annual Turkey Vulture Festival June 18 at East Overlook

IOWA CITY – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will be hosting its First Annual Turkey Vulture Festival on Saturday, June 18, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Coralville Lake East Overlook Picnic Area.
This is a family event, but parents must accompany their children. Activities will include face painting (9-11 a.m.), Iowa Children’s Museum with games and crafts (10 a.m. to 12 p.m.), a coloring contest, spotting scopes for viewing the birds provided by the Iowa City Bird Club, Dr. Tex Sordahl from Decorah as the turkey vulture expert, an exhibit from the Johnson County Conservation Education Center, plus other displays and presentations.
The East Overlook Picnic Area is located at the east end of Coralville Dam.
