Haunted Trail Hike at Coralville lake Oct. 28-29

CORALVILLE–The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, in partnership with the Friends of Coralville Lake, are hosting a Haunted Trail to be held at Coralville Lake on Friday, Oct. 28, and Saturday, Oct. 29, from 7-9 p.m. each night. The event is free and open to the public. It will take place on the Woodpecker Nature Trail, which starts near the Linder Point Campground. This will be the first time a haunted trail has been held at Coralville Lake and it is sure to be a scary, but fun-filled event.
The event is family-friendly and there will be multiple activities for all age groups in addition to the haunted trail. There will be face painting and mask-making stations along with programs. Friday night at 7 p.m., a program about owls of Iowa with live owls will be presented by the Iowa Raptor Project, and then at 8 p.m., campfire ghost stories will be told by Master Storyteller Perry Ross. At 7 p.m. on Saturday, a program on survival skills for a zombie apocalypse will be conducted by Park Ranger Dan Meden and at 8 p.m., a bats of Iowa program will be presented by Upper Iowa graduate and bat expert Ryland Richards. The event is family-oriented but the haunted trail may not be appropriate for children under 10 years old due to some of the subject matter along the trail.
Linder Point Campground is located on West Overlook Road NE approximately 0.6 miles west of Dubuque Street. Due to uneven walking surfaces along the trail, please wear sturdy footwear if you are planning to go on the haunted hike; no open-toed footwear will be allowed. Come out and enjoy the activities and we hope to scare you there.
