Mary Joan Grover, 77, of Solon, died Monday, June 18, 2012, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Services were held June 22 at Brosh Chapel in Solon. Private family burial followed in Oakland Cemetery in Solon.
Mary was born Aug. 11, 1934, in Waterloo, the daughter of Allen J. and Irma I. (Goss) Peverill. She married Robert Grover on Oct. 25, 1953, in Waterloo. Mary worked many years as a secretary at University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She enjoyed camping and trout fishing in Northern Iowa, crocheting, collecting Fenton milk glass and watching Court TV. She also spent many hours on Facebook and playing online solitaire.
Mary is survived by her husband Robert (Bob); children Steve (Marilyn) of Solon, Nat Grover LaCroix (Karen Sheldon) of Iowa City, Barbara Grover of Fort Worth, Texas, and Randy (Kris) of Elkader; grandchildren Paul (Donna) LaCroix, Rob LaCroix, Lyndsi (Neven) Price, Casey (Sara) Grover, and Sondra Grover; great-grandchildren Brandon, Alexis, Christian, Madison, Kaylee, and Kynnedi; a sister, Bonnie Christensen, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, James Peverill, and a grandson, Corey Grover.
