NL Optimists to host pancake breakfast March 5

NORTH LIBERTY– The Optimist Club of North Liberty will host its 43rd annual pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 5, in the North Liberty Community Center gymnasium, 520 W. Cherry St.
Proceeds will benefit more than a dozen North Liberty youth programs, as all Optimist clubs have a mission to be “friends of youth.”
The breakfast– featuring pancakes, eggs, sausage, orange juice, milk and coffee or tea– is the North Liberty club’s largest annual fundraiser. Tickets are $6 for adults and $2 for kids ages 3-10. Admission is free for children under age 3. Tickets also can be purchased in a packet of 11 tickets for $60, a savings of $6.
Tickets can be purchased at the door the day of the event, or in advance at the North Liberty Library, 520 W. Cherry St.; Chiropractic TLC, 1295 Jordan St.; Great Western Bank, 655 Community Drive; and at SonShine Dry Cleaners, 555 Highway 965 S.
Last year, the North Liberty Optimists donated about $25,000 to support about 20 North Liberty youth activities, including the free summer lunch program for kids, North Liberty Youth Baseball & Softball and Babe Ruth, a kite festival, and a kid-friendly Christmas basket giveaway in collaboration with the local school Family Resource Center. The club also contributes to Girl Scout and Boy Scout programs, and co-hosts the North Liberty Recreation Center’s egg hunt and Halloween party.
