Scott Alan Strabala, 63, of Lone Tree and formerly of Ft. Madison died Christmas morning 2013 at Pioneer Park in Lone Tree. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Dec. 28 at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Riverside with the Rev. David Brownfield officiating. Burial was at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Scott was born on Dec. 15, 1950, the son of Maynard and Bernice Libenguth Strabala. He received two bachelor’s degrees from Iowa State University. Scott was employed at Fort Madison Aquinas Catholic Schools for 27 years where he taught middle school and high school science. He coached softball, track and cross country, and also served as athletic director, bus driver and groundskeeper. He loved sharing his love of nature with the students he taught.
Scott is survived by his four siblings, Karen (William) Horner of Iowa City, Keith (Debra) Strabala of Riverside, Rodney Strabala of Iowa City and Kent (Billi Jo) Strabala of Burlington; his niece and nephews, Shannon (Jarod) Webb of North Liberty, Eric (Katie) Horner of Iowa City and Ryan Horner of North Liberty, and Jamie (Shannon) Strabala of Ellison Bay, Wis.; seven great nieces and nephews.
