Still time to donate to local pantrys’ Thanksgiving in July
NORTH LIBERTY– The North Liberty Community Food and Clothing Pantry is participating in Thanksgiving in July food drive activities. All food and funds donated will remain in North Liberty. Please drop-off food and/or financial donations at your local financial institution during the month of July. Financial donations are counted four pounds per dollar. The financial institution that collects the most pounds wins the Traveling Turkey Trophy to display throughout the next year.
The pantry is averaging more than 670 visits per month. Please donate during the month of July and help feed local families. Food donations are also being accepted at Adair Chiropractic and Fareway.
During the first Thanksgiving in July food drive more than 15 years ago, six tons of food and funds were collected and went to a local organization. Since then, the food drive has continued to develop and expand. The 2014 food drive donations will benefit food pantries and food relief agencies throughout Johnson County, as well as other areas in Iowa.
