Walter Glen Nesley, 91 of Coggon, died Thursday, March 20, 2014, at the Hiawatha Care Center. Services were held March 24 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, where full military rites were conducted. Burial was in Mount Vernon Cemetery.
Glen was born June 23, 1922 in Springville, the son of John and Grace (Horak) Nesley. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1941 until 1968, retiring as a senior master sergeant. He served in World War II and the Korean Conflict and was an ex-POW. He married Dorothy Mallicoat on March 21, 1984 at Troy Mills Christian Church.
Glen is survived by his wife, Dorothy Nesley; two sons, John (Connie) Nesley and Paul (Leslie) Nesley both of California, step-children, June (Joel Sr.) Matson of Plainfield, Ill. and Steve (Lynn) Mallicoat of Solon; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his sister Patsy (Keith) Payton of Coggon and his brother Dean (Marsha) Nesley of Wis.
