IOWA CITY– The residents of the Iowa City Community School District will elect three directors in the school election, which will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009.
Any person who is a citizen of the United States, 18 years of age or older, and a resident of the school district may become a candidate for the school board.
Nomination papers may be secured from the office of the Board Secretary, 509 S. Dubuque Street, or from the County Commissioner of Elections (County Auditor), and must be filed with the Secretary, Board of Education during the dates of July 6-July 30, 2009. The final day for filing nomination papers is July 30 prior to 5 p.m. The nomination petition must contain the signatures of at least 50 eligible electors of the school district. An affidavit acknowledging the candidate’s eligibility must also be filed with the petition.
