NORTH LIBERTY– The North Liberty City Council has approved city staff salaries for the upcoming fiscal year.
For the year beginning July 1, 2009, and ending June 30, 2010, the city’s overall salary budget is $4.776 million, a total that includes employee’s contractual benefits such as health insurance, paid vacation and sick leave.
In March, the council voted to give city employees across the board a 2 percent cost of living wage increase, and instituted a freeze on merit pay for the new fiscal year.
Included in the resolution approving the salary rates for city staff were the addition of a full-time police officer and a police department administrative assistant. Also approved were additional hours to create a full-time recreation supervisor position.
Administrative positions claimed the biggest chunk of the city’s personnel budget, with City Administrator Ryan Heiar topping the list with an annual salary of $100,964.

Eric Vandewater, Fire Chief (part-time position)- $25,448
