Charles Robert “Bob” Mick, 69, of Palo, died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha, following a brief illness. Funeral Mass was held Sept. 9, at St. Jude’s Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by Father Jon Seda. Burial was at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Local survivors include his son Patrick (Carrie) Mick, Ely.
Born Aug. 30, 1942, in Aurora, Ill., Bob was the son of J. Edward and Lucille (Freed) Mick. He lived in Downers Grove, Ill., moved to Ottumwa, and then to Cedar Rapids in 1952. Bob graduated from Washington High School in 1960. He was a member of the Cedar Rapids Cadets Drum & Bugle Corps. Bob served in the U.S. Army for three years as a radar operator– air defense missiles for two years in Schweinfurt, Germany. On Sept. 4, 1965, he was united in marriage to Judith Marron in Waucoma, Iowa. He was a shift supervisor, operations supervisor and senior outage project manager at Duane Arnold Energy Center, retiring in June 1998.
